If you live in a rented property, it is a recommended that you to take out tenants content insurance so that you and your personal belongings are protected throughout your tenancy agreement.

As a tenant you are responsible for insuring your own possessions and damage that may be caused to your landlord’s property.
With our tenants content insurance policy, not only can you insure your own belongings in case the worst should happen, but you could also claim up to £2,500 for any accidental damage you may cause to your Landlord’s contents. This is damage you would be liable for and may result in you losing your deposit or bond.  Taking out the right insurance policy will help you protect your deposit and any other claims your landlord may make for damage to his property.

How do I pick the right tenants content insurance?

The best way to look at tenants content insurance is to consider the worst-case scenario. How much would it cost to actually replace everything in the event of a flood or fire? Consider your laptop, mobile phone, cds, clothing, books...would £5,000 be enough to replace everything?
If you are going to take out tenants content insurance make sure you have adequate cover in place. In the event of a claim, being under-insured could affect how much you receive as a settlement.
